NCDOR Launches Self-Help Tool for Filing Individual Income Returns
Step by Step Instructions
Date: January 6, 2012
The North Carolina Department of Revenue is making it easier for people to complete their Individual Income Tax Return (Form D-400) this year with an on-line tutorial that walks a taxpayer through the process step-by-step.
The self-paced program allows North Carolina taxpayers to understand who is required to file an Individual Income Tax Return, how to obtain the necessary forms and identify what information they need to have gathered in order to complete their returns.
The tutorial, which is meant to provide general guidance only, also covers information on certain popular tax credits and deductions.
"We are excited to launch this electronic tutorial," said David Hoyle, Secretary of Revenue. "Completing tax forms and returns can often be time-consuming and confusing. We believe this tool will make understanding general tax responsibilities easier for our citizens."
