Taxpayer ID Numbers Changing for Selected Taxpayers This Spring
Date: March 27, 2012
The North Carolina Department of Revenue recently upgraded its tax processing system, and as a part of that transition, some taxpayers will receive new ID numbers to use when filing and paying taxes.
About 5,000 taxpayers will be affected by the change this spring, and will receive mailed letters with detailed information regarding their accounts and ID numbers with the department.
Taxpayers should start using the new numbers within 2 months of receiving notification.
Most of the changes are for business related tax types such as wine and cigarette distributors.
