Hickory Resident Charged with State Tax Offenses

RALEIGH – A Hickory resident was arrested Monday on tax charges filed by the North Carolina Department of Revenue.
Michael Seth Galit, 54, of 6530 Willowbottom Rd., Hickory, NC was charged on March 25, 2013 with three counts of Willful Failure to File a North Carolina Individual Income Tax Return.
Arrest warrants allege that Galit was required to file a North Carolina Individual Income Tax Return for tax years 2009, 2010 and 2011, but willfully failed to file the returns. Galit is employed by the Catawba County Schools.
Galit appeared before a Catawba County magistrate and was place under a $3,000 bond. A court date was scheduled for April 4, 2013 in Wake County District Court in Raleigh.
The charges against Galit resulted from an investigation by a special agent with the Department’s Criminal Investigations Section in Raleigh.
