Rocky Mount Tax Preparer Charged with State Tax Offenses

RALEIGH – A Rocky Mount tax preparer was arrested Friday on tax charges filed by the North Carolina Department of Revenue.
Eugene Harrison, Sr., 47, of 114 Tonya Ct., Nashville, was charged on April 5, 2013 with 19 counts of Aid or Assist in the Preparation of Fraudulent Tax Returns and one count of Willful Failure to File a North Carolina Individual Income Tax Return.
Arrest warrants allege that Harrison aided in the preparation of fraudulent North Carolina Individual Income Tax Returns for clients of H & J Tax Solvers for the tax years 2010 and 2011. An additional arrest warrant alleges that Harrison willfully failed to file his 2011 individual income tax return with the North Carolina Department of Revenue. Harrison is the owner and operator of H & J Tax Solvers located in Rocky Mount.
Harrison appeared before a Wake County magistrate and was placed under a $501,000 secured bond. A first appearance was scheduled for April 8, 2013 in Wake County District Court in Raleigh.
The charges against Harrison resulted from an investigation by a special agent with the Department’s Criminal Investigations Section in Raleigh.
