Caldwell County Man Charged with State Tax Offenses

RALEIGH – A Lenoir man was arrested Monday on tax charges filed by the North Carolina Department of Revenue.
Michael L. Klingler, 58, of 3599 Wilkesboro Blvd, Lenoir, was charged on September 30, 2013 with five counts of Willful Failure to File Return, Supply Information, or Pay Tax.
Arrest warrants allege that Klingler was required to file North Carolina Individual Income Tax Returns for tax years 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011, but willfully failed to file the returns. He is employed by Mike Klingler Roofing.
Klingler appeared before a Caldwell County magistrate and was placed under a $2,500 bond. A first court appearance was scheduled for October 22, 2013 in Wake County District Court in Raleigh.
The charges against Klingler resulted from an investigation by a special agent with the Department’s Criminal Investigations Section in Raleigh.
