Wilmington Businessman Pleads Guilty To State Tax Charges

RALEIGH –A Wilmington businessman pleaded guilty Wednesday in Wake County District Court to tax charges filed by the North Carolina Department of Revenue.
Robert B. Snider, 70, of 4906 Carol Street, Wilmington, pleaded guilty on October 23, 2013 to eight counts of failure to file state tax returns.
District Court Judge Jacqueline L. Brewer sentenced Snider to a 45-day prison term. The sentence was suspended and Snider was placed on supervised probation for 24 months. Snider was also ordered to pay restitution of $29,463.45 and a $1,000.00 criminal fine.
An investigation by the North Carolina Department of Revenue found that Snider, as a responsible person of SCR & Associates, Inc., aided and abetted the corporation to fail to file corporate income tax returns with the North Carolina Department of Revenue for 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012. Snider also willfully failed to file his North Carolina Individual Income Tax Returns for the same years.The charges against Snider resulted from an investigation by a special agent with the Department’s Criminal Investigations Section in Raleigh.
