Cumberland County Woman Charged with State Tax Offenses

RALEIGH – A Fayetteville woman was arrested Thursday on tax charges filed by the North Carolina Department of Revenue.
La Reina Whitfield, 32, of 1480 Distinct Circle, Fayetteville was charged on January 31, 2013 with three counts of failure to file North Carolina Individual Income Tax Returns. Whitfield was arrested at her place of employment, One Stop Financial Center, 1112 W Broad St., Dunn.
Arrest warrants allege that Whitfield, a resident of North Carolina, willfully failed to file individual income tax returns for years 2008, 2009, and 2010.
Whitfield appeared before a Harnett County magistrate and was placed under a $1,000 bond. She was scheduled to appear Feb. 28, 2013 in Wake County District Court in Raleigh.
The charges against Whitfield resulted from an investigation by a special agent with the Department's Criminal Investigations Section in Raleigh.
