RALEIGH – A Polkton woman was arrested Thursday on felony charges filed by the North Carolina Department of Revenue.
Cynthia Mae Williams, 46, of 549 School Street, Polkton was charged on July 18, 2013 with two counts of Attempt to Evade or Defeat Tax.
Arrest warrants allege that Williams willfully filed fraudulent North Carolina Individual Income Tax returns for the tax years 2010 and 2011, failing to include taxable income, in an attempt to evade and defeat North Carolina Individual Income Tax.

The charges against Williams resulted from an investigation by a special agent with the Department’s Criminal Investigations Section in Raleigh.
