Iredell County Resident Sentenced on State Tax Charges

An Iredell County resident pleaded guilty Tuesday to charges filed
by the North Carolina Department of Revenue.
Timothy L. Welborn of 529 Abbeydale Road, Harmony, pleaded guilty
on April 6, 2004 to 12 counts of failure to file and pay the state
individual income tax.
Judge April Wood issued Welborn a 120-day sentence. The sentence
was suspended and he was placed on supervised probation for five years.
Welborn was ordered to pay $41,000 in restitution and $585 in attorney
fees. He was also ordered to pay court costs and file all past due
state tax returns.
The charges against Welborn are the result of efforts by the Department
of Revenue Winston-Salem Office.
