Wake County Man Guilty of State Tax Charges

RALEIGH – A Wake County man pleaded guilty Thursday to charges filed by the North Carolina Department of Revenue.

Vernon A. Utley of 10604 Fanny Brown Road, Raleigh pleaded guilty on March 8, 2007, to one count of failure to file and pay the state individual income tax. He receive a 45-day suspended sentence and was placed on supervised probation. He must pay $16,678.58 in restitution and file and pay any delinquent returns as well as court costs and fees.

The charges against Utley are the result of efforts by the Department’s Raleigh Collections Office.
