Watauga County Resident Guilty of State Tax Charges

A Watauga County man was found guilty in District Court recently to charges filed by the North Carolina Department of Revenue.
Jamelle Assad of 115 Green Heights Drive, Boone was found guilty on May 27, 2008 to failure to pay the state individual income tax.
Judge Gregory Horne issued Assad a suspended sentence and placed him on 36 months of supervised probation. Assad was also ordered to file and pay all current and future taxes on time.
The charges against Assad are the result of efforts by the Department’s Hickory Collections Office.
