Wake County Businessman Guilty of State Tax Charges

A Wake County business owner pleaded guilty Wednesday to charges filed by the North Carolina Department of Revenue.
Bill Barbour of 601 Ortega Road, Raleigh pleaded guilty on June 4, 2008 to failure to file and pay the state sales and use and withholding taxes. Barbour operates Village Eye Care, an optical store located at 2105 Cameron St. in Raleigh.
Barbour received a 45-day suspended sentence and was placed on 12 months unsupervised probation. He must also pay $50 in court costs.
The charges against Barbour are the result of efforts by the Department’s Raleigh Collections Office.
