Wilkes County Resident Guilty of State Tax Charges

A Wilkes County woman pleaded guilty recently to charges filed by the North Carolina Department of Revenue.
Kelly Barlow of 633 Nelson Lane, Miller’s Creek pleaded guilty in Wilkes County District Court on April 25, 2008 to failure to pay the state withholding tax. Barlow is president of Foothills Mortgage Inc. located at 239 Jefferson St., North Wilkesboro. She also pleaded guilty to failure to file and pay her state individual income taxes.
Judge Michael Duncan issued Barlow a 45-day suspended sentence and placed her on supervised probation for 60 months. She must also pay $5,818.84 in restitution.
The charges against Barlow are the result of efforts by the Department’s Hickory Collections Office.
