Lincoln County Resident Guilty of State Tax Charges

A Lincoln County man pleaded guilty Monday to charges filed by the North Carolina Department of Revenue.
William R. Broome of 1749 Withers Drive, Denver pleaded guilty on April 21, 2008 in Lincoln County District Court to failure to file his 2001, 2002 and 2003 individual income tax returns.
Judge Larry J. Wilson issued Broome a 45-day suspended sentence and placed him on supervised probation for 24 months. He was ordered to pay $15,434 in restitution.
The charges against Broome are the result of efforts by the Department’s Hickory Collections Office.
