Burke County Businessman Guilty of State Tax Charges

A Burke County businessman pleaded guilty Friday to charges filed by the North Carolina Department of Revenue.
Steven R. Mull, 60, of 2416 Mount Home Church Road, Morganton pleaded guilty on June 27, 2008 to failure to file and pay the state sales tax. Mull is president of Mull’s Concrete & Septic Tanks Inc. in Morganton.
Judge Dennis J. Redwing issued Mull a 45-day suspended sentence and placed him on 12 months probation. Mull must also pay a $25 fine and court costs.
The charges against Mull are the result of efforts by the Department’s Hickory Collections Office.
