Burke County Resident Guilty of State Tax Charges

Raleigh - A Burke county resident was found guilty of failure to file and pay the state individual income tax on June 17 in Burke County District Court.
Freddie A. Coffey of Connelly Springs was sentenced to 120 days in jail. His jail time was suspended and he was ordered to pay $19,171.74 and file his 2008 income tax return on August 3, 2009. He is also required to file and pay future N.C. income taxes on time.
The charges against Coffey are the result of efforts by the N.C. Department of Revenue collections office in Hickory.
