Wake County Resident Guilty of State Tax Charges

A Wake County businessman pleaded guilty Thursday to charges filed by the North Carolina Department of Revenue.
Abdallah El Attafi of 906 Hampshire Court, Cary pleaded guilty on Jan. 8, 2009 to one count of failure to file and pay the state sales and use tax. El Attafi is the owner of Mambo Subs Corporation which operated a Subway sandwich shop on Raleigh Boulevard. The shop closed in May 2008.
He served three days of active jail time, was placed on supervised probation for 36 months and must pay $4,051.43 in restitution and court costs.The charges against El Attafi are the result of efforts by the Department’s Raleigh Collections Office.
