Pitt County Resident Guilty of State Tax Charges
Date: June 30, 2009
Raleigh - A Pitt county resident pleaded guilty on May 18 in Pitt County District Court to two counts of failure to file and pay the state individual income tax.
Timothy Ferruzzi of 305 Wesley Road, Greenville, the owner of Handy Helpers and Piratestuff, was sentenced to 45 days in jail. The jail time was suspended and he was ordered to serve 12 months on probation. He must pay court fees of $121 and pay restitution of $5550.04 within 150 days for tax year 2004. This is in addition to the $3600 he has already paid. He must file and pay his 2007 income taxes within 120 days. In addition to the income tax charges, Ferruzzi was charged with 1 count of failure to file and 4 counts of failure to pay state sales tax. The judge dropped those charges because Ferruzzi paid those taxes prior to final court date.
The charges against Ferruzzi are the result of efforts by the N.C. Department of Revenue collections office in Greenville.
