Wake County Resident Guilty of State Tax Charges

A Wake County man pleaded guilty recently to charges filed by the North Carolina Department of Revenue.
Maurice Majette of 5821 Spirit Court, Raleigh pleaded guilty on Jan. 30, 2009 to failure to file and pay the state sales and use tax. Majette is the owner of Outer Skin, a clothing store located on Capital Boulevard.
Majette received a 30-day suspended sentence and was placed on unsupervised probation for 12 months. Majette must also pay restitution and court costs.The charges against Majette are the result of efforts by the Department’s Raleigh Collections Office.
