Catawba County Restaurant Owner Guilty of State Tax Charges

A Catawba County businessman pleaded guilty Tuesday to charges filed by the North Carolina Department of Revenue.
Patrick Bennet Robinson of Hickory pleaded guilty on Feb. 10, 2009 to one count of failure to pay the state sales and use tax. Robinson is a partner with Jade Enterprises LLC which operated a Quiznos Subs shop located at 1036 Lenoir Rhyne Blvd. S.E. in Hickory. The business is now closed.
Judge Amy R. Sigmon issued Robinson a 90-day suspended sentence and placed him on 36 months of supervised probation. Robinson must also pay $21,888.34 in restitution and court costs.The charges against Robinson are the result of efforts by the Department’s Hickory Collections Office.
