Wake County Businessman Guilty of State Tax Charges

A Wake County business owner pleaded guilty recently in District Court to charges filed by the North Carolina Department of Revenue.
Ricky Simpson of Raleigh pleaded guilty on Jan. 6, 2009 to one count of failure to file and one count of failure to pay the state corporate and franchise tax. Simpson is president of JAS Realty Inc.
Simpson received a 90-day suspended sentence and was placed on supervised probation for 24 months. He must also pay $7,844.20 in restitution and court costs.The charges against Simpson are the result of efforts by the Department’s Raleigh Collections Office.
