Carteret County Resident Guilty of State Tax Charges
Date: Feb. 13, 2009
A Carteret County man pleaded guilty Thursday in Carteret County District Court to charges filed by the North Carolina Department of Revenue.
Claude A. Wallace of Beaufort pleaded guilty on Feb. 12, 2009 to two counts of failure to file and pay the state individual income tax.
Judge Jerry Waddell issued Wallace a 90-day suspended sentence and placed him on five years of probation. Wallace must pay $7,302.67 in restitution and court costs and perform 100 hours of community service. His probation period will end on April 15, 2010 if the amount is paid in full by that date.
The charges against Wallace are the result of efforts by the Department’s Wilmington Collections Office.
