Union County Couple Guilty of State Tax Charges

RALEIGH – A Union County couple pleaded guilty Friday to charges filed by the North
Carolina Department of Revenue.
Delia K. Nesbit, 51, of 4001 Broome Acres, Monroe pleaded guilty on July 25, 2003 to one
count of failure to pay the state individual income tax.
Robert W. Nesbit, 46, also of 4001 Broome Acres, pleaded guilty to two counts of failure
to pay the state individual income tax and two counts of failure to pay the state withholding
tax.
Judge Scott Brewer issued Delia K. Nesbit a 45-day suspended sentence. She was placed on
supervised probation for five years and was ordered to pay $13,135.64 in restitution.
Brewer issued Robert Nesbit a 45-day suspended sentence for failure to pay the withholding
tax and placed him on supervised probation for five years. Mr. Nesbit was also ordered to
pay $14,933.69 in restitution.
Nesbit also received a 45-day suspended sentence for failure to pay the state individual
income tax. He was placed on probation supervised for five years and ordered to pay $13,135.64
in restitution. He must file and pay all back and current taxes while on probation.
The charges against the Nesbits are the result of efforts by the Department of Revenue Monroe
Office.
