A Carteret County resident was found guilty Thursday to charges filed by the North Carolina Department of Revenue.

William H. Davis of 1019 N. Yaupon Terrace, Morehead City, was found guilty on Aug. 19, 2004 to four counts of failure to pay the state individual income tax.

Judge Jerry Waddell issued Davis a 45-day sentence for each count. The sentences were suspended and Davis was placed on supervised probation for 60 months. He was ordered to pay $11,527.81 in restitution and a $1,440 fine. The taxpayer has the right to appeal the court’s decision.

The charges against Davis are the result of efforts by the Department’s Jacksonville Collections Office.
