Burke County Resident Serves Active Sentence for State Tax Charges

RALEIGH – A Burke County resident found guilty of charges filed
by the North Carolina Department of Revenue is now serving an active
sentence.
Carl Edward Mintz of 3402 Tom Deal Road, Valdese was found guilty
in 2001 of one count of failure to pay the North Carolina individual
income tax. He received a 45-day suspended sentence and was placed
on probation for three years. He was also ordered to pay restitution
and court costs.
On June 24, 2004, his probation was revoked and Mintz was ordered
to serve 45 days in the Burke County jail.
The charges against Mintz are the result of efforts by the Department’s
Hickory Collections Office.
