Catawba County Resident Guilty of State Tax Charges

A Catawba County woman pleaded guilty recently to charges filed by the North Carolina Department of Revenue.
Doretha P. Carson of Hickory pleaded guilty on Oct. 4, 2007 to failure to file and pay the state individual income tax. Judge Amy Sigmon issued Carson a 120-day suspended sentence and placed her on supervised probation for 36 months. She must pay $18,813.07 in restitution and $120 in court costs.
The charges against Carson are the result of efforts by the Department’s Hickory Collections Office.
