Catawba County Resident Guilty of State Tax Charges

A Catawba County man pleaded guilty Monday to charges filed by the North Carolina Department of Revenue.
James Arthur Geter of 544 7th St. S.E., Hickory pleaded guilty on July 30, 2007 to five counts of failure to file and pay the state individual income tax.
Judge W. Robert Bell issued Geter five 45-day suspended sentences and placed him on supervised probation for five years. He was ordered to pay $20,000 in restitution to the Department of Revenue and comply with all state tax laws.
The charges against Geter are the result of efforts by the Department’s Hickory Collections Office.
