Dare County Business Owner Guilty of State Tax Charges

A Dare County business owner pleaded guilty recently to charges filed by the North Carolina Department of Revenue.
David R. Grahek of Kill Devil Hills pleaded guilty on Aug. 30, 2007 to failure to pay the state sales and use tax. Grahek was a partner with East Shore Interiors a Dare County construction firm that is no longer in operating.
Judge E. L. Barnes issued Grahek a 45-day suspended sentence and placed him on 24 months of supervised probation. Grahek must also pay $22,195.95 in restitution.
The charges against Grahek are the result of efforts by the Department’s Elizabeth City Collections Office.
