Caldwell County Man Guilty of State Tax Charges

A Caldwell County man was found guilty Tuesday of charges filed by the North
Carolina Department of Revenue.
Jerry D. Griffin Jr. of 1345 Sunshine Lane, Lenoir entered a no contest plea on July
3, 2007 to charges of failure to file and pay the state individual income tax.
Judge Gregory R. Hayes issued Griffin a 45-day suspended sentence and placed him
on supervised probation for 36 months. Griffin must pay $2881.68 in restitution and
file and pay all outstanding returns within 90 days. He must also pay attorney fees
and court costs.
The charges against Griffin are the result of efforts by the Department’s Hickory
Collections Office.
