Wake County Business Owner Guilty of State Tax Charges

RALEIGH – A Wake County businessman pleaded guilty today to charges filed by the North Carolina Department of Revenue.
George L. Istfan pleaded guilty to failure to file and pay the state withholding and individual income taxes. Istfan is president of Meal Portal Inc. a catering service based in Cary.
Istfan received a suspended sentence and was placed on supervised probation for one year. He was ordered to pay $9,433 in restitution and file all of his dilenquent returns.
The charges against Istfan are the result of efforts by the Department’s Raleigh Collections Office.
