Alexander County Business Owner Guilty of State Tax Charges

An Alexander County businessman pleaded guilty Monday to charges filed by the North Carolina Department of Revenue.
Billie M. Millsaps pleaded guilty on Oct. 22, 2007 to two charges of failure to file and pay the state sales and withholding taxes. He is president of Millsaps Transmission Inc., an automobile repair shop located in Taylorsville.
Judge April Wood issued Millsaps 45-day suspended sentence and placed him on supervised probation for 36 months. He must pay $12,115.35 in restitution and perform 48 hours of community service.
The charges against Millsaps are the result of efforts by the Department’s Hickory Collections Office.
