Cleveland County Resident Guilty of State Tax Charges

A Cleveland County man pleaded guilty Tuesday to charges filed by the North Carolina
Department of Revenue.
Nathaniel D. Petty of 2009-2 Taylor Road, Shelby pleaded guilty on Aug. 14, 2007 to
failure to pay the state individual income tax.
Judge Larry Wilson issued Petty a 45-day suspended sentence and placed him on supervised
probation for 24 months. Petty must pay $4,810.21 in restitution and file and pay all
future taxes on time.
The charges against Petty are the result of efforts by the Department’s Hickory
Collections Office.
