Former Iredell County Attorney Pleads Guilty to State Tax Charges

A former Iredell County attorney pleaded guilty Tuesday to charges filed by the North Carolina Department of Revenue.
Dwayne S. Turner pleaded guilty on Oct. 23, 2007 to failure to pay the withholding tax and the individual income tax. He is no longer practicing law, however he once owned the D. Scott Turner law firm.
Judge Lynn S. Gullett issued Turner a 45-day suspended sentence, placed him on probation for five years and ordered him to pay $5,650.40 in restitution.
The charges against Turner are the result of efforts by the Department’s Hickory Collections Office.
