Wake County Business Owner Guilty of State Tax Charges

RALEIGH – A Wake County businessman pleaded guilty Wednesday to charges filed by the North Carolina Department of Revenue.
Byron T. Unger pleaded guilty on Nov. 14, 2007 to one count each of failure to pay the state sales and use, use and withholding taxes. Unger is the owner of Graphically Spoken, Inc. a sign company located on Highway 64 in Apex.
Unger received a 45-day suspended sentence and was placed on supervised probation for 24 months. He was ordered to pay $14,510.39 in restitution. The charges against Unger are the result of efforts by the Department’s Raleigh Collections Office.
