Wake County Resident Guilty of State Tax Charges

RALEIGH -- A Wake County businessman pleaded guilty Tuesday in District Court to charges filed by the North Carolina Department of Revenue.
Stephen E. Apple pleaded guilty on Dec. 2, 2008 to one count each of failure to file and failure to pay the state sales and use tax. Apple is the owner of Louver Designs, Inc. located at 108 E. Fourth St., Raleigh. The company sells and installs shutters and blinds.
Apple received a 45-day suspended sentence and was placed on supervised probation for 60 months. He must also pay $7,125.63 in restitution, a $150 fine, and court costs.The charges against Apple are the result of efforts by the Department’s Raleigh Collections Office.
