McDowell County Resident Guilty of State Tax Charges

A McDowell County man pleaded guilty recently to charges filed by the North Carolina Department of Revenue.
Tommy Vaughan Bowman, Jr. of 89 Earl Lee Road, Nebo, pleaded guilty on Aug. 20, 2008 to one count of failure to file and pay the state individual income tax. Judge Laura A. Powell issued Bowman a 90-day suspended sentence and placed him on five years supervised probation. Bowman must also pay $71,774.14 in restitution and court costs.
The charges against Bowman are the result of efforts by the Department’s Hickory Collections Office.
