Beaufort County Business Owner Guilty of State Tax Charges

A Beaufort County man pleaded guilty recently in District Court to charges filed by the North Carolina Department of Revenue.
Don A. Cox Jr. of 232 Harvey Road, Washington pleaded guilty on Oct. 16, 2008 to one count each of failure to file the state sales and use tax and failure to file the state withholding tax. Cox is the president of Coastal Boat Works and Marine Service in Washington.
Judge Michael A. Paul issued Cox a 30-day suspended sentence and placed him on 12 months unsupervised probation.
The charges against Cox are the result of efforts by the Department’s Greenville Collections Office.
