Watauga County Businesswoman Guilty of State Tax Charges

A Watauga County woman pleaded guilty Tuesday in District Court to charges filed by the North Carolina Department of Revenue.
Lori Ann Tucker Grindrod of 763 Beaver Dam Road, Vilas pleaded guilty on July 29, 2008 to one count of failure to file and pay the corporate income and franchise tax, one count of failure to file and pay the individual income tax, five counts of failure to file and pay the withholding tax, and 12 counts of failure to file and pay the sales and use tax. Grindrod is the owner of Framing by Lori, Inc., located at 240 Shadowline Drive, Boone.
Judge Jack E. Klass placed Grindrod on supervised probation for one year. Grindrod must also pay court costs and probation fees. The tax owed was paid before her court appearance.
The charges against Grindrod are the result of efforts by the Department’s Hickory Collections Office.
