Wake County Business Owner Guilty of State Tax Charges

RALEIGH -- A Wake County man pleaded guilty in District Court on Dec. 2, 2008 to charges filed by the North Carolina Department of Revenue.
Christopher Herndon pleaded guilty to two counts of failure to file and pay the state sales and use tax and two counts of failure to file and pay the withholding tax. Herndon is the owner Herndon Brothers Enterprises, LLC, which operated Best Signs and Services. The business, which was located at 546 Dynamic Drive in Garner, is no longer in operation.
Herndon received a 45-day suspended sentence and was placed on supervised probation for 60 months. Herndon must also pay $17,626.42 in restitution, a $150 fine plus court costs.The charges against Herndon are the result of efforts by the Department’s Raleigh Collections Office.
