Cleveland County Woman Guilty of State Tax Charges

A Cleveland County resident pleaded guilty recently to charges filed by the North Carolina Department of Revenue.
Dara McDonald, 41, of 114 Sunrise Circle, Shelby pleaded guilty on November 24 to six counts of failure to file and pay North Carolina state income tax.
She received a 45-day suspended sentence and was placed on supervised probation for 48 months. McDonald must also pay $14,787.84 in restitution and court costs.The charges against McDonald are the result of efforts by the Department’s Hickory Collections Office.
