Catawba County Resident Guilty of State Tax Charges

A Catawba County man pleaded guilty today to charges filed by the North Carolina Department of Revenue.
Alfred M. Moss, 54, of 1999 Goat Road, Catawba pleaded guilty on Dec. 4, 2008 to one count of failure to pay the state income tax. Moss is the owner of a pier-building company called Long Island Marine Construction which is located at 779 Hudson Chapel Road, Catawba.
District Court Judge Robert Brady issued Moss a 45-day suspended sentence and placed him on 36 months of supervised probation. Moss must also pay $14,673.36 in restitution and a $100 fine.The charges against Moss are the result of efforts by the Department’s Hickory Collections Office.
