Union County Couple Guilty of State Tax Charges

A Union County couple pleaded guilty recently to charges filed by the North Carolina Department of Revenue.
Mark A. and Deanna L. Sjoberg of 8718 Kentucky Derby Drive, Waxhaw pleaded guilty on July 18, 2008 to failure to file and pay the state indvidual income tax.
The Sjobergs appeared in Union County District Court and received a 30 day suspended sentence and were placed on five years probation. They also were ordered to pay $28,479.35 in restitution and court costs.
The charges against the Sjobergs are the result of efforts by the Department’s Charlotte Collections Office.
