Raleigh Business Owner Guilty of State Tax Charges

RALEIGH – A Wake County businesswoman pleaded guilty today to charges filed by the North Carolina Department of Revenue.
Shi Fang Zheng of 10648 Tarton Fields Circle, Raleigh pleaded guilty on July 10, 2008 to failure to file and pay the state’s withholding, sales and corporate taxes. Zheng is president and owner of New Asia Bistro, Inc. The restaurant, which was located at 8211 Brier Creek Parkway, Suite 107, is now closed.
Zheng received a 45-day suspended sentence and was placed on supervised probation for 36 months. She must also pay $16,992.79 in restitution, a $100 fine and court costs.
The charges against Zheng are the result of efforts by the Department’s Raleigh Collections Office.
